About Me

I'm Djemie "WreckingPrograms" Groot, a 24-year-old indie game programmer and designer from the Netherlands, currently residing in Germany.

When I first started experimenting with game development over 10 years ago, I could immediately tell that this was where my passion lied. Since then, I have made and contributed to several games, the most notable of which I have included in this portfolio.

While I primarily use GameMaker Studio, I also have experience with Unity and proprietary C++ engines. I mainly have expertise in level editor and gameplay programming, but I am also capable of doing many other programming and design tasks, ranging from tools programming to UI design.

Many may know me as "the Mega Man Maker guy". While Mega Man Maker has been a huge part of my game dev career, it has certainly not been my only project, and I hope this portfolio shows that I have contributed to, and am still contributing to, several other interesting projects.

My favorite genres, both to play and to develop, are platformers and fighting games. Most projects in this portfolio will fit either of these genres, but I am interested in exploring further genres in future projects.
